Hello and thank you for taking the time to visit my site!
My passion for photography began at a young age while looking through old family photos of my grandparents. I loved seeing the styles of the times and noticing the progression of change in the people, cars, clothes, houses, and landscapes throughout the decades. The nostalgia of these old photographs became therapeutic for me throughout the years and helped me to realize the importance in documenting life. Not only for your own growth, but also for future generations to know where they came from. As the saying goes; "A picture is worth a thousand words". My other passion is design, although, I have come to learn that photography and design go hand in hand. I studied graphic design and marketing and have always been drawn to interior design. The other half of my business is offering the service of a designer and creative consultant; helping small businesses and professionals with all their design and marketing needs. My services include but are not limited to anything from logo design, digital marketing, spacial and event design, advertising, and branding, to consulting on ways to improved a brand or business through cohesive design. Since starting Findlay Photography & Creative in 2012, I have photographed over 50 weddings, over 200 families, and have helped countless local businesses and professionals in and around the lower mainland. I am honoured to serve my community and to be awarded Best Photographer, two years in a row, through the Peace Arch News - 2017 & 2018 Best of the Peninsula Readers Choice Awards.
A bit about me... My name is Jen Findlay; I'm a mother of two beautiful kids and two beautiful labradors residing in White Rock, BC. I studied Design Formation (formally Display + Design) at Langara College and once owned and operated an Irish pub. My photography style is a combination of fine art and photojournalism; capturing the candid moments is what really gets me. I listen to podcasts way too much and often overindulge on caffeine. If you like coffee over tea and dogs over cats we'll get along just fine. I'm passionate about my community, the environment, and the Konmari Method. Look it up, it will change your life! I'm not a fan of quotes like "Follow your bliss" or "Sing like no one is listening". But, I do believe that life is short so you better make the most of it. Currently, I'm on a journey to reduce our households use of plastic, and so far, I'm finding it difficult...
Now that you know a bit of my story; I'd love to meet over a cup of coffee, not tea, to find out more about you and if we'd work great together. Let's connect!
